Step 1 - Add one "watering set" for every pot in your system.
- For larger pots you get extra drippers in your watering set to evenly water the whole pot.
Step 2 - Blumats can be powered with your hose spigot or by gravity with a reservoir.
Here are your options:
- 5 Gal Reservoir w/ Lid & Fittings - This pre-built reservoir already has the connectors attached for the easiest and quickest setup. Keep your reservoir at least 3 feet above your plants for optimal pressure.
- Water Reservoir Tank Connectors - Use for your own rain barrel or water storage tank. Almost any BPA free bucket, bin, or tote will work. Keep your reservoir at least 3 feet above your plants for optimal pressure.
- Hose Spigot Pressure Reducer - If you use a hose spigot you'll need this Blumat Pressure Reducer. It will lower the pressure down to 15 psi in your system which the Blumats require to function properly. **We do not recommend using a hose spigot system indoors.
Step 3 - Supply Tubing Options:
Grab a 23ft or 25ft roll for up to 12 plants. We recommend about 1 foot per extra plant. If your reservoir or hose spigot is far away add extra as needed.- Standard Supply Line: A great budget friendly option available in 23' rolls. Sometimes it's hard to get fittings off (tip - let it sit in the sun or soak in hot water beforehand).
- Superflex Supply Line: Made of silicone and very flexible. Fittings are easy to apply and remove. You can bend it loosely around corners in your system for a customizable shape. Available in 25' rolls and by the foot.
Step 4 - Choose one of our Fittings Sets to finish building your automatic watering garden:
- There are also extra fittings available for a truly unique design layout!
Step 5 - Add Optional Upgrades
Here are some optional upgrades to enhance your experience with Blumats and your plants:
- The Moisture Meter is great but not waterproof at the digital top so if you plan on leaving it outside, grab the cap too!
- Quick Connect On/Off Valves make moving plants a breeze. Just turn the valve off, disconnect the watering carrot, and you're free to move your plant wherever you want.
- Extra distribution drippers are great and you can use up to 5 per watering carrot. Although we give you two drippers in our 5 gallon pot set, some people use four so if you want to experiment grab an extra pack.
The Blumat Pump System is great for commercial gardeners and those who don't want to elevate their reservoirs. Maintain stable pressure throughout large plant systems.
