    Description

    AutoPot 4Pot Self-Watering System - Happy Hydro

Fill the tank once and four plants water themselves for days.

The AutoPot 4Pot runs four pots from a single reservoir on gravity alone. Each pot sits in a tray with its own AQUAvalve5, a float valve that floods the tray when the medium dries down, then waits for the plant to drink it dry before it refills. No pumps, no timers, nothing to plug in. Fill the tank, walk away, and let the plants set the pace.

Hand-watering four plants vs. the AutoPot 4Pot
    Hand-Watering
    • Water every pot by hand, most days
    • Guess at how much each plant needs
    • Overwatering drowns roots, underwatering stalls growth
    • Excess water and feed run off down the drain
    • Plants dry out the moment you travel
    • Automating it means pumps, timers, and a power draw
    AutoPot 4Pot
    • Fill one reservoir and all four pots feed themselves
    • Each plant draws only what it needs, when it needs it
    • The tray refills only after it runs dry, so roots never sit in water
    • No runoff and no recirculation, so nothing is wasted
    • A full tank covers several days away from the grow
    • Runs on gravity, so no pumps, timers, or electricity

How the AQUAvalve5 gives each plant a wet and dry cycle

Every pot sits in its own tray, and inside each tray is an AQUAvalve5. It is a mechanical float valve with two chambers and no moving electronics. When the tray is empty, the valve opens and lets water flow in from the reservoir until the tray fills to about an inch and a half. The potting medium wicks that water up to the roots. The valve then stays shut until the plant has drawn every drop out of the tray. Only when the tray runs completely dry does it open again.

That dry-down between waterings is the whole point. It gives roots a chance to breathe and reach for water instead of sitting in a constant puddle, which is what drives strong root growth and reduces the risk of root problems. The reservoir sits at the same level as the pots, so the only force moving water through the line is gravity. There is nothing to time, nothing to pump, and nothing that fails when the power goes out.

Four self-regulating plants from one tank

One AQUAvalve5 per pot, each working on its own 4 independent valves

Every pot has its own valve, so four plants at different sizes or stages each self-regulate from the same tank without affecting one another. A young plant sips while a mature one drinks, and neither waits on the other.

Root control keeps the valve running clean

A root control disc on plastic pots, or a PotSock on fabric pots, sits between the pot and tray so roots take up water without growing into the AQUAvalve5 and clogging it. It keeps the system reliable through a long grow.

Pick your pot: plastic or fabric, seven sizes

Plastic pots come in 2.2, 3.9, and 6.6 gallon in black or white; fabric GeoPots come in 3, 5, 9, and 13 gallon and air-prune the roots. Larger pots carry bigger plants through a longer season, and white plastic reflects light to run a few degrees cooler.

One tank feeds all four pots

You manage a single water level instead of four. Every valve pulls from the same reservoir, so topping up one tank waters the whole set, and the water line at your feet is the only thing you have to keep an eye on.

Fill it with soil, coco, or any wicking mix

The system draws moisture up from the tray, so it works with any medium that wicks well and still drains. Coco-perlite blends and quality potting soil are the common picks, and living soil works too.

Add pots as your grow grows

The 4Pot uses the same parts as every other AutoPot size. Add expansion modules one plant at a time on the same line, up to about 100 pots from a large enough reservoir.

Setting up your 4Pot system in four steps

    1

Position the tank level with the pots

Set the reservoir on the same surface as your trays, or slightly higher, so gravity carries water through the pipe. Run the tubing to each tray and fit an AQUAvalve5.

    2

    Establish your plants before connecting

Add a 1 inch drainage layer at the bottom of each pot, or fit an AirBase to skip it, then plant and hand-water from the top for the first 7 to 10 days. Wait until roots are established, roughly 6 inches of top growth in a 2.2 gal pot and up to 12 inches in the larger sizes, before you connect the plant.

    3

Fill the reservoir and open the taps

Add water and your liquid feed to the tank, then open the inline taps. The trays fill on their own and the medium starts wicking water up to the roots.

    4

Top up the tank and let it run

From here the AQUAvalve5s handle the watering. Refill the reservoir before it empties and check your feed mix, and the plants take care of the rest.

    Frequently asked questions
Not once the system is running the way it should. The AQUAvalve5 only refills a tray after the plant has emptied it, so roots always get a dry period between waterings. The one time plants can sit too wet is early on, before the roots are big enough to drink a full tray. That's why the establishment step below matters so much.
No. The watering runs on gravity. As long as the reservoir sits at the same level as the pots or slightly above, water flows to the valves on its own, with nothing to plug in and nothing that fails in a power outage. One honest note: if you run mineral nutrients through the tank, a small pump or a daily stir keeps them from settling out of solution. That is optional and the watering itself still needs no power.
Wait until the roots are established, and hand-water from the top for the first 7 to 10 days after transplanting. A good rule of thumb is about 6 inches of top growth in a 2.2 gal pot, around 12 inches in the 6.6 gal and larger sizes. If you connect too early, the roots can't drink fast enough, the tray stays wet, and the plant can drown. A little patience here is the single biggest factor in a successful AutoPot grow.
Anything that wicks water up well and still drains. A quality potting soil or a coco blend both work, and most growers add extra perlite for drainage so the medium never stays soggy. Avoid heavy, dense mixes that hold too much water. Fabric pots work too and add air-pruning at the edges.
It depends on plant size, stage, and how warm your space is. A 12.4 gallon hard tank easily runs four pots, and early in a grow it can go several days between fills. Big plants in peak growth drink faster, so you'll check it more often then. One habit to keep: don't let the tank run completely dry before you top it up.
Yes. Every AutoPot size uses the same AQUAvalve5 and the same 3/8 inch tubing, so you can add expansion modules one pot at a time on the same line. Each tray's valve works independently, so different pot sizes on one reservoir don't interfere with each other. The only limit is keeping the reservoir large enough to feed everything.
