    What the XXL system actually does

    AQUAvalve5 plant-controlled watering 50% less water

    The valve opens when the tray is dry and closes when it fills to about 1 inch of depth. Each pot gets its own valve, so individual plants draw at their own pace without recirculation or waste.

    9-gallon and 13-gallon fabric pots

    Each XXL tray accepts either a 9-gal or 13-gal GeoPot G Lite fabric pot. Both pot sizes share the same diameter, so they fit the same tray with no adapter needed.

    Air-pruning fabric pots for stronger roots

    Porous sidewalls stop root circling. Instead of spiraling around the pot edge, roots branch outward and create a denser feeding network than you would get in a solid plastic container of the same size.

    Zero electricity, zero pumps

    The entire system runs on gravity. Raise the reservoir at least 6 inches above the highest AQUAvalve5, and water pressure does the rest. No power cords, no moving parts to maintain or replace.

    Scales from 1 pot to 100 pots

    Start with a 1-pot system and add XXL expansion modules whenever you need more capacity. Every module connects to your existing reservoir line with 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch pipe and cross connectors.

    Works with mineral or organic nutrients

    The AQUAvalve5 has a 66% larger inlet than the previous generation, reducing clogs with thicker nutrient solutions. For organics, AutoPot recommends running a small pump in the reservoir for 15 minutes every 2 hours to keep the solution mixed.

    How the system works

    Connect the reservoir

    Place your FlexiTank or hard tank at least 6 inches above the highest tray. Attach the inline filter to the tank outlet, then run 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch pipe to your tray line.

    Set up the trays and pots

    Place each XXL tray on a level surface. Drop in the PotSock, then set the 9-gal or 13-gal fabric pot on top. The PotSock keeps roots from reaching the AQUAvalve5.

    Plant and hand-water for 7 to 10 days

    Pot up your plants and water them by hand from the top for the first week to 10 days. This lets roots establish before the bottom-fed system takes over.

    Turn on the system and walk away

    Open the inline taps and fill the reservoir with water and nutrients. From here, the AQUAvalve5 handles everything. Refill the tank when it gets to about one-third full.

    Frequently asked questions
    No. The whole system is push-fit pipe and gravity. You place the tray, drop the pot and PotSock in, run one pipe from the reservoir to the tray, and open the tap. The AQUAvalve5 snaps into the tray with no tools. AutoPot includes full printed instructions with every kit.
    Yes. The AQUAvalve5's larger inlet handles thicker organic solutions better than older AutoPot valves. Many growers run water-only living soil in the XXL fabric pots and only add plain water to the reservoir. If you are running liquid organics through the line, keep the reservoir stirred and clean the filter when you refill. Mineral salt-based nutrients work with no extra steps.
    The 13-gallon is the default for most indoor growers who want big root zones and longer periods between tank refills. The 9-gallon fits in tighter spaces and still provides more root volume than a standard 5-gallon pot. Both sizes share the same diameter and fit the XXL tray directly, so you can mix and match within a single system.
    That depends on pot count, plant size, and environment. Large plants in full production drink significantly more than seedlings or young veg plants. AutoPot recommends never letting the reservoir run completely empty. Refill when it gets to about one-third full to maintain consistent gravity pressure to the valves.
    Yes. AutoPot sells individual XXL expansion modules that include a tray, valve, pot, PotSock, and a cross connector. You splice the new module into your existing pipe run, and it starts working immediately. You can expand from 1 pot to 100 pots with no changes to the reservoir setup other than upsizing the tank if needed.
    You can select "No Tank" when ordering and use your own reservoir. The only requirement is that the tank outlet sits at least 6 inches above the highest AQUAvalve5, and that you use an AutoPot inline filter to prevent debris from reaching the valve. AutoPot's FlexiTanks and hard tanks are purpose-built for this, but any food-safe reservoir with a bulkhead fitting will work.

    Returns & Cancellations
    Email help@happyhydro.com within 30 days of delivery and we'll get you a refund or replacement, your choice. Items must be in original packaging with all parts in resalable condition. Multi-light orders, grow tents, orders over $500, and multi-box shipments may incur return shipping charges. AK, HI, and international buyers are responsible for return and warranty shipping. Some vendor-specific policies may apply — check the product page for details.
    Refunds are processed through Shopify within 10 business days. Most customers see the credit back in about 5 days.
