The Mother Nature CO2 Generator uses naturally formulated compost and beneficial bacteria to produce CO2 inside sealed grow tents and rooms. What you're getting and how it works

Up to 800 PPM in a 4' x 4' Area 5L Kit

The 5-liter generator more than doubles ambient CO2 (roughly 400 PPM) in a sealed tent. The 10-liter version covers up to an 8' x 8' area at the same concentration.

Biological CO2 from Compost and Bacteria

The bucket contains a specially formulated compost blend and natural bacteria that produce CO2 as a byproduct. No chemicals, no combustion, no compressed gas.

Syncs to Your Light Schedule Automatically

Plug the included air pump into your lighting timer. When lights come on, the pump pushes CO2 out of the bucket. During lights-off, the bacteria recharge inside the sealed container.

Three Operation Methods: Basic, Pulse, and Advanced

Run the pump continuously with your lights (basic), cycle 15 minutes on and 60 off for concentrated bursts (pulse), or connect a CO2 monitor set to 650 PPM for on-demand activation (advanced).

Refillable: Empty, Clean, and Reload

When CO2 output diminishes (typically around six months), empty the bucket and drop in a 5-liter refill pack ($69.99). The bucket itself lasts indefinitely.

No Added Heat in Your Grow Space

Unlike propane or natural gas CO2 burners, this system adds zero heat to your tent. Particularly useful in spaces that already run warm under high-output grow lights.

How to set up and run the generator

Open and add hot water

Remove the lid and pour in 1.25L (5L kit) or 2.5L (10L kit) of hot water. Not boiling. Wait 24 hours before turning on the pump so the bacteria can fully activate.

Connect the air pump

Plug the bottom airline into the included air pump. Route the top airline into your tent canopy or behind a circulation fan for even distribution.

Plug into your light timer

Connect the air pump to the same timer or relay as your grow lights. CO2 flows during lights-on when plants photosynthesize. During lights-off the bacteria recharge.

Monitor and refill when needed

A CO2 detector (sold separately) tells you exact PPM levels and when output starts dropping. When it does, empty the bucket and add a refill pack to start a fresh 6-month cycle.

Frequently asked questions
In a sealed 4x4 tent the 5L generator can raise CO2 from ambient (around 400 PPM) up to 800 PPM, which is the range where most plants show measurable increases in photosynthesis and growth rate. The key word is "sealed." If your tent has a strong exhaust fan running constantly and pulling fresh air in, you're venting the CO2 out as fast as the bucket makes it. Most growers using supplemental CO2 either turn off exhaust during CO2 delivery or run exhaust on a timer or controller.
The kit ships dry, so there is no odor in storage. Once activated with water, there can be a mild earthy or composting smell near the bucket. Inside a sealed tent with a carbon filter running during exhaust cycles, most growers report no noticeable odor outside the tent.
Not required, but recommended. Without a monitor you can run the basic method (pump on with lights) and still benefit from elevated CO2. A monitor lets you confirm actual PPM levels in your tent, dial in the pulse method timing, or set up the advanced method where the pump only kicks on when CO2 drops below 650 PPM. A monitor also tells you when the contents are depleted and it's time for a refill.
If you have a CO2 monitor, you'll see PPM readings stop climbing during lights-on. Without a monitor, a general rule is to check at the 5-month mark by observing plant growth rate. If growth has slowed back to pre-CO2 levels, it's time for a refill pack.
You can, but the results will be minimal. CO2 supplementation works because you're enriching a controlled volume of air. In an open room the CO2 disperses and dilutes before it reaches meaningful concentrations around the plant canopy. A sealed tent or greenhouse with controlled ventilation is the intended use case.

Shipping
Check the order confirmation sent to your email or phone after checkout — it includes a tracking link. If you use the Shop App, you can track your order there too.
Most orders arrive in 3-5 business days. Expedited options (2-day, overnight) are available at checkout if you need it sooner.
Signature is only required on orders over $500. For added privacy, we can ship to your local UPS Store so you pick it up on your own schedule — just ask.
We default to UPS Ground or USPS Ground Advantage. Select an expedited option at checkout and we'll use the appropriate carrier for that service.
  • P.O. boxes: Yes, for small and lightweight items.
  • International: Canada only. Email help@happyhydro.com your address and a screenshot of your cart for a shipping quote.
  • APO/FPO: Not currently available.
For Canadian orders, import duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility. You'll complete payment using your tracking number at UPS.com when your package arrives.
Title and risk of loss pass to you once we hand off to the carrier, but that doesn't mean we leave you hanging. Email help@happyhydro.com and we'll work overtime to track it down and make it right.

Refunds are processed through Shopify within 10 business days. Most customers see the credit back in about 5 days.
