How the EVO8 spreads even light across a full 5x5

A single-board light puts most of its output through one dense square in the middle of the fixture. Directly under the board you get intense light, but toward the edges of a 5x5 the intensity falls off fast, which is why corner plants stretch and finish lighter. The EVO8 solves that geometrically: the 2688 diodes are split across multiple thin bars that span the whole footprint, and they're algorithmically spaced so output is distributed rather than stacked. The practical result is that plants in the corners see close to what the center plants see, so the whole canopy grows and finishes more evenly.

The full-spectrum blend does the rest. 1720 EVO 3000K and 864 EVO 5000K white diodes carry the core photosynthetic spectrum, 88 OSRAM 660nm red diodes drive the flowering response, and small counts of 395nm UV and 730nm far-red round out the light plants use at either end of the range. Because the diodes are Samsung's LM301H EVO generation, that spectrum is produced at 3.14 umol/J per diode, so you get the coverage without an outsized power bill.

EVO is Samsung's current horticulture diode generation, running a higher blue spectrum and more output per diode than LM301H, LM301B, or Bridgelux 3030 chips. Every diode on the board is genuine Samsung, not a re-labeled equivalent.

Detachable driver you can mount off-fixture Remote-mount driver

The driver unclips from the frame and mounts remotely, so you can put its heat outside a sealed tent instead of adding it to the room. The driver body is small, 7.16 by 1.57 inches, so it tucks out of the way.

Bar-style layout for edge-to-edge coverage

The 44 by 44 inch frame carries diodes across the full width, so the light footprint matches a 5x5 flower tent instead of hot-spotting in the center. Plants in the corners see usable light, not just fill.

Included schedule controller, no wall timer needed

The controller in the box runs a full daily on/off cycle, 10 brightness levels, and a sunrise/sunset setting that ramps the light up and down gradually. That is enough to run the light without any extra hardware.

UIS platform ready for WiFi and app control

Plug it into a CONTROLLER 69 PRO or CONTROLLER AI+ (sold separately) to add phone app control, remote programming, automation, and custom grow recipes, and to link the light with AC Infinity fans and climate gear on one system.

Daisy-chains up to 80 lights on one schedule

Link fixtures in a line with UIS splitter dongles (sold separately) and run up to 80 EVO8 lights from a single controller. One schedule change updates every light in the chain at once.

Setting up the EVO8 in your 5x5

Hang the fixture

Center the 44 by 44 inch frame over your 5x5 using the included rope hangers, or use the magnetic mounts on a steel frame. Leave headroom to raise and lower it.

Detach and place the driver

Unclip the driver and mount it outside the tent if you're running a sealed or heat-sensitive room. In an open space you can leave it on the frame.

Set your schedule

Plug in the schedule controller, set your on and off times, and pick a brightness level. Turn on sunrise/sunset if you want the light to ramp instead of snap on.

Dial in hang height

Growers typically hang the EVO8 about 18 to 24 inches above the canopy in bloom, then bring intensity up to full once stretch finishes. Start lower and raise as plants respond.

Questions
Before you buy the EVO8
The EVO8 is built for a 5x5 flower footprint and 6x6 for veg, and 730W is the right power band for most 5x5 grows. Step up to the 1000W EVO10 if you run a dense, hard-driven canopy and want a higher intensity ceiling, or if you plan to add CO2 and push the room. For a standard home or small commercial 5x5, the EVO8 is the balanced choice. Call us at 716-217-0353 if you want a second opinion for your setup.
At full output the EVO8 draws 730W, or 0.73 kWh per hour. To estimate your cost, multiply 0.73 by your hours per day, then by your local electric rate. A 12/12 flower schedule is about 8.8 kWh a day, so at a rate of $0.15 per kWh that works out to roughly $1.30 a day. Plug in your own rate for an accurate number, and remember dimming the controller lowers the draw.
It works out of the box. The included schedule controller runs your daily on/off cycle, dimming, and sunrise/sunset ramp with nothing else to buy. You only need a CONTROLLER 69 PRO or AI+ if you want WiFi and phone app control, automation, grow recipes, or you want to tie the light into other AC Infinity gear on the UIS platform.
That 2013 figure is the maximum output at full intensity and close range, which is a flowering-canopy number, not where you start. Use the 10 brightness levels: run seedlings and early veg at a lower level and a higher hang, then step intensity up as plants mature into flower. The dimming is exactly what lets one light cover a plant's whole life cycle without cooking young growth.
Yes. The driver unclips from the frame and can be mounted away from the fixture, including outside the tent through a port. The reason is heat: the driver runs warm, so moving it out of a sealed space takes that heat source out of the room your AC or exhaust has to manage. Check the length of the included lead so you know how far the driver can sit from the fixture in your layout.
Yes. The fixture is IP-65 rated and built on a steel and aluminum chassis, so it's made to hold up in humid environments where a lot of consumer lights aren't. It's rated for 35 to 85% relative humidity and operating temperatures from 32 to 140F, which covers the range most sealed and high-humidity rooms run.

Shipping
Check the order confirmation sent to your email or phone after checkout — it includes a tracking link. If you use the Shop App, you can track your order there too.
Most orders ship within 24 hours, and typical delivery takes 3-5 business days after shipment. Expedited options may be available at checkout depending on the products and destination.
Signature is only required on orders over $500. For added privacy, we can ship to your local UPS Store so you pick it up on your own schedule — just ask.
We default to UPS Ground or USPS Ground Advantage. Select an expedited option at checkout and we'll use the appropriate carrier for that service.
  • P.O. boxes: Yes, for small and lightweight items.
  • International: Canada only. Email help@happyhydro.com your address and a screenshot of your cart for a shipping quote.
  • APO/FPO: Not currently available.
For Canadian orders, import duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility. You'll complete payment using your tracking number at UPS.com when your package arrives.

Refunds are processed through Shopify within 10 business days. Most customers see the credit back in about 5 days.
