The film does the curing on its own: seal flower at 10 to 12 percent moisture and the bag holds itself at 58 to 62 percent relative humidity with no burping and no humidity packs. The only thing case quantity changes is what you pay per bag.

What changes when the bag does the work

Curing in jars or poly bags	Curing in an opaque TerpLoc pouch
Open and burp every jar daily for two to three weeks, and keep a log so nothing gets missed.	Fill, heat seal once, put it on a shelf. Grove Bags states no burping is required after the seal.
Humidity packs go in, get checked, and get replaced as they dry out or turn hard.	The humidity and oxygen layers hold 58 to 62 percent relative humidity passively, with no packs.
A sealed jar traps the oxygen that came in with the flower and holds it against the product.	The film diffuses oxygen outward to keep levels low, which is what limits oxidation.
Clear glass means the cure has to live in a blacked out room or every jar gets light damage.	Fully opaque film with a UV layer. Grove Bags says a dim room around 60F is enough.
Glass and standard poly build a static charge that strips trichomes off the flower on contact.	An anti static element in the film is there specifically to stop that transfer.
Jars do not ship or sit on a shelf. The flower gets weighed out into packaging a second time.	The pouch is the retail unit. A gusseted base lets it stand up filled, so it goes straight out.

The film runs the cure

Humidity and oxygen layers work together to hold the inside of the bag in that band on their own, which is why Grove Bags says packs are unnecessary once moisture content is right.

No window at all

These pouches are fully opaque with a UV layer, so the cure does not need a blacked out room. Grove Bags puts a dim room at roughly 60F as the target.

Anti static layer

Grove Bags built this in because packaging static pulls trichomes off the flower, and those trichomes carry the aromatic oils you spent the whole cure protecting.

2 in to 8 in gusset

Gusseted bottom

The base opens out so a filled bag stands on a shelf instead of flattening, which keeps buds from being pressed out of shape in storage.

Grove Bags manufactures the entire film at its Bedford Heights, Ohio plant and prints with soy based inks. Bags are reusable but are not biodegradable today.

How it works

Four steps from dry rack to shelf

Dry to 10 to 12 percent

Grove Bags puts that at roughly 10 to 14 days of drying. Check it with a moisture meter, because the bag can only hold the humidity band if the flower starts inside it.

Fill to about three quarters

Leave roughly 25 percent of the bag empty. Grove Bags is specific that both too much and too little headspace compromise the cure.

Heat seal above the zipper

The zipper itself carries no TerpLoc film. Grove Bags estimates sealing above it prevents another 1 to 2 percent of loss through that gap.

Shelve it and leave it

Cool and dim, around 60F. Nothing gets burped, checked or swapped out between the seal and the sale.

Picking a size: the number is what the bag is built to hold at normal density, so a 1 lb pouch is sized for a pound plus the 25 percent headspace. If you are packaging for retail, match the bag to your sale unit rather than to your harvest weight.

FAQ

Questions growers ask before ordering a case

The page shows zero on hand. Can I still order a case?

Yes. Full cases ship against Grove Bags stock rather than off our Buffalo shelf, so the on hand counter reads zero while the item stays sellable. If you need a committed ship date before you place the order, call 716-217-0353 and we will check the current case stock for your size.

Can I mix sizes to make up one case?

No. Each case is a sealed factory pack of a single size, which is where the price comes from. If you need several sizes in smaller counts, order them on the singles and 20 pack listing instead and combine them in one order.

Do I have to heat seal, or is the zipper enough?

The zipper alone will work, but Grove Bags recommends sealing because the zipper itself contains no TerpLoc film and is where the aromatics escape. Grove Bags puts the difference at about 1 to 2 percent. We do not stock heat sealers, so plan to source one separately if you want the full effect.

Can I open and reclose these every day?

Not well. These carry the single track zipper, which Grove Bags rates for curing, storage and shelf sale rather than repeated opening. Grove Bags makes a five track version for heavy daily use, and a child resistant zipper with the strongest seal of the three.

Are these the windowed bags?

No, these are fully opaque with no viewing window, which is the version to pick when light exposure is the thing you are protecting against. The windowed pouches are a separate listing, and the trade is that you can see the product through them.

How many times can a bag be reused before it stops working?

Grove Bags says an undamaged bag stays effective for years, and reports customers getting four or more. The UV protection and the anti static layer are the first properties to fade with use; the humidity control is the last. A bag that has been heat sealed loses some height each time it is cut open.

What if my order shows up damaged, or I change my mind?

If you receive a defective or damaged unit, email us a photo at help@happyhydro.com and we'll take care of you. For change-of-mind returns, we accept returns within 30 days for most items in new, resalable condition.
