Description
Three knobs, and one of them is far red
The 8-Bar Nova Sun splits its 950 watts across three channels you dim independently: cool white at 700W, warm white at 200W and far red at 50W. Mammoth's 2026 spec sheet puts it at 2,470 umol/s and 2.6 umol/J from a 44 by 44 inch frame, rated IP65 and covered for five years. If you want to change the light your plants get without changing the fixture, this is the one in the line that lets you.

A single-channel LED vs this fixture
What the third knob actually buys you
A single-channel full-spectrum LED
Nova Sun 950W, 3-channel spectrum tuning
One dimmer. Turning it down lowers every wavelength together, so the ratio you bought is the ratio you keep.
Three manual knobs, one per channel: cool white 700W, warm white 200W, far red 50W, each dimmed on its own.
Far red is either baked into the blend at a fixed share or sold as a separate bar kit you bolt on later.
50W of far red is already on the fixture and has its own knob, so you set how much of it the canopy sees.
Veg and flower get the same spectrum because there is only one setting to give them.
Mammoth publishes two footprints for this one fixture: 6 by 6 feet in veg and 5 by 5 feet in flower.
Output is quoted in watts, which tells you what the wall pays and not what the plants receive.
2,470 umol/s total photon output at 2.6 umol/J, with the cool white channel alone listed at 1,750 umol/s.
Adding a second light usually means walking over and matching dimmer knobs by eye.
0 to 10V dimming with RJ45 in and out ports, so a row of fixtures takes one setting together.
No published ingress rating, in a room you deliberately run humid.
IP65 rated and L90 rated to 50,000 hours, with Mammoth's warranty exclusions published in writing rather than discovered later.

Before you order
Six things worth knowing about this fixture specifically
CW 700WWW 200W
The three channels are white, white and far red
Mammoth's spec sheet names them cool white 700W, warm white 200W and far red 50W. There is no separate red knob on this fixture, which is worth knowing before you plan a spectrum around one.
2,470 umol/s
Photon output, not just wattage
2,470 umol/s at 2.6 umol/J on the 2026 spec sheet, with the cool white channel listed separately at 1,750 umol/s and warm white at 580.
50W far red
Far red you can dial rather than live with
Mammoth treats end-of-day far red as experimental and says so plainly, which is why having it on its own knob matters more than having it in the blend.
5x5 flower6x6 veg
One frame, two published footprints
Mammoth rates the same 44 by 44 inch fixture for 6 by 6 feet in veg and 5 by 5 feet in flower, so a 5x5 tent is the size this light was quoted against.
RJ45 in and out
Built to be ganged, not just hung
0 to 10V dimming with RJ45 in and out ports means a second and third fixture join the same control run instead of each needing its own trip up the ladder.
IP65L90 50,000 h
Read the warranty exclusions before you spray
Mammoth voids coverage for IPM sprays, foliar oils and corrosive chemicals reaching the fixture, and for pest or mildew contamination. Cover the light or move it before you spray.

Also published for this model: 3,924 diodes, CRI above 90, power factor above 95 percent, total harmonic distortion below 6 percent, and a 277 to 480V input option sold separately. Three things are deliberately missing above. Unit weight, because Mammoth's product page says 32 lbs and its own spec sheet says 15.88 kg, which is 35 lbs, and we are not going to pick one. Mounting height, because Mammoth publishes no hanging distance for this fixture. Far red photon output, because only the cool white and warm white channels are broken out. Every figure above comes from Mammoth Lighting's own 2026 spec sheet. Call 716-217-0353 if you need any of the three missing figures confirmed before you order.
How it works
Four steps from box to a tuned canopy
1
Hang it over the footprint it was rated for
The frame is 44 by 44 inches and 4 inches deep, quoted for 5 by 5 feet in flower. Mammoth publishes no hanging height, so set yours with a meter rather than a guess.
2
Pick the plug and check the circuit
Both 120V and 240V plugs ship in the box. At 120V this fixture draws 7.92A, so a single 15A household circuit will not carry it plus much else.
3
Set the three knobs for the stage you are in
Mammoth's guidance is to shift ratios while keeping total photons steady, and to raise the blue fraction roughly 5 to 15 percent above baseline in veg, cloning and mother phases.
4
Chain the next fixture off the first
Run RJ45 from the out port to the in port of the next light, or drive the row from a 0 to 10V controller so one change reaches every fixture.

Your situation
What we would send instead
A 5x5 on a tighter budget, and you do not need tuning
Nova Sun 720W 6-Bar at $699, published at 1,944 umol/s and rated for the same 5 by 5 footprint.
A 5x5 and a fixed spectrum is fine, so put the difference into the tent
Nova Sun 820W 8-Bar at $849, published at 2,214 umol/s in the same 44 inch frame.
You want a UV channel as well as far red
Nova Sun 930W 10-Bar at $1,199, a four channel fixture with UV on a 55 by 44 inch frame.
You already own this light and want UV added to it
Buying tip: the honest question between this and the 820W next to it is whether you will actually turn the knobs. If you run one recipe from clone to chop, the 820W puts 2,214 umol/s over the same 5x5 for $150 less. If you are phenohunting, running veg and flower in one room, or want far red under your own control, the third knob is the whole reason this model exists. Call 716-217-0353 and tell us which of those you are doing.
FAQ
What growers ask before buying a tunable LED
Cool white at 700W, warm white at 200W and far red at 50W. Our old copy on this page described the channels as white, red and far red, which was wrong: there is no independent red channel on this fixture. Mammoth's 2026 spec sheet is the source for the correct split, and if you were planning a recipe around a dedicated red knob, the 10-bar with its UV channel is the different fixture you may actually want.
Electrically yes, practically with care. The spec sheet lists 7.92A at 120V, and a standard 15A household circuit is derated to 12A for continuous loads, so this fixture alone uses most of one. Running it at 240V drops the draw to 3.96A, and both plugs are in the box. If the same circuit also carries a dehumidifier or an air conditioner, get an electrician to look at it before you plug in.
It uses 0 to 10V dimming with RJ45 in and out ports, which is the common standard, but Mammoth publishes no list of third party controllers it has tested with. We are not going to tell you your existing controller works when the manufacturer has not said so. The Mammoth LED Controller is the one they build for it. Call 716-217-0353 with the make and model of what you own and we will tell you what we actually know.
Five years on the fixture and on the driver, covering repair or replacement of defective components. Mammoth replaces a whole fixture only when 5 percent or more of its diodes have failed. Coverage is void if IPM sprays, foliar oils, acids or corrosive chemicals reach the light, if there is pest or mildew contamination, or if there is water intrusion. Transit damage must be reported within 72 hours of delivery, so open the box the day it lands.
Mammoth does not publish a hanging height for this fixture, and two growers asked the same question under their own spectrum article without getting an answer. So we will not print a number. The published coverage figures, 6 by 6 feet in veg and 5 by 5 in flower, are what you size the space by. Set the actual height with a PAR meter at canopy level and adjust from there.
Because it spends its watts differently. The 10-bar is 930W across four channels including 180W of UV, where this one puts 700W into cool white alone. More bars on a larger 55 by 44 inch frame spreads the same order of power over more emitters. We are not quoting a photon figure for the 10-bar here, because Mammoth's product page and its own article give two different numbers for it and we would rather say that than pick one.
