Description

Twenty-eight clips carry each branch by the stem, so no face of the bud rests on anything

Hydrofarm rates each stainless clip at 0.8 lb and the whole rack at 22.4 lb, so the thing to plan around is branch weight rather than plant count. The outer frame is 13.5 by 19.75 inches and drops onto a lockable hook, which means this takes a column of vertical space instead of a shelf. Frame, clips and hook are all stainless steel.

Mesh shelves and string lines vs clip drying

What changes when the stem carries the weight

A mesh tier rack or a string line This clip rack
Buds lie on the shelf for days and dry with the contact face pressed flat. Each branch hangs by its stem, so nothing presses against the flower at any point.
Loaded tiers sit above and below each other, and the middle of the stack gets the stillest air. Every clip hangs in the same open plane, so no branch is shaded by the one above it.
Neither a net nor a line comes with a published load rating, so how much it will take is a guess. Hydrofarm publishes a per clip figure and a whole rack figure, so the load can be planned before you cut.
A 24 inch net needs a two foot circle of clear space and swings into the tent walls when you reach in. The frame is narrower than that circle and hangs flat, so it sits against one wall or over a tray.
A full net has to be unstacked tier by tier to reach the bottom, and every branch on a line is tied by hand. Clips release one at a time, so the small branches come off while the thick ones keep drying.
Polyester mesh holds residue, has to be hand washed, and has to be fully dry before it goes back in the bag. Stainless wipes down and goes straight back on the hook.

Before you order

Six things that decide whether this rack suits your harvest

0.8 lb per clip

Wet branches hit the rating early

A freshly cut branch carries most of its weight in water. Hang the heavy colas on their own clips and save the doubled-up loads for the small stuff.

2.3 in jaw

Cut the branch with bare stem on top

The clip grips along 2.3 inches of stem. Leave that much clean stem above the top bud and the jaws never have to close on flower.

One version, nothing to configure

There is a single build of this rack at one price. No tier counts, no diameters and no left or right hand option to get wrong at checkout.

The hanging hook locks

It will not walk along a tent crossbar or jump off a ratchet hanger while you load one end of the frame before the other.

13.5 x 19.75 in

Height is the real constraint

The footprint fits almost any tent. What decides it is branch length plus the hook plus clearance off the floor, so measure your longest branch.

Flat in, flat away

It arrives in a 20 by 14 by 2.4 inch package at 2.05 lb, and it stores in that same slot behind a shelf between harvests.

How it works

Four steps from cut plant to loaded rack

1

Hang it empty first

Lock the hook over a tent crossbar, a ratchet hanger or a closet rod, then confirm the rack swings free of the walls before anything goes on it.

2

Decide how much leaf stays on

Leaves left on the branch slow the dry down, stripped branches speed it up. Either way, cut so the top of each stem is bare where the clip will close.

3

Load outward, leave gaps

Fill from the middle out and skip clips where branches would touch. Two branches pressed together trap damp air between them and that is where mold starts.

4

Pull them as they finish

Thin branches are done days before thick colas, so take each one off when its small stems snap instead of bend, and move it straight into a curing container.

Herb Drying Rack, 2, 4 or 6 tier $14.95 Buds already cut off the stem, and overflow past 28 clips
Curved Tip Titanium Trimming Scissors $6.95 Cutting branches down to clip length
LED Magnifying Loupe, 30x and 60x $9.95 Calling the harvest window before you cut
Grove Bags with TerpLoc, Windowed Pouches $0.40 The cure once branches come off the rack

Buying tip: at $26.95 this rack sits $22.05 under the free shipping line. Adding the 6 tier mesh rack at $24.95 brings the order to $51.90 and clears it, which is also the pairing that covers both whole branches and loose buds in one harvest.
FAQ

Questions growers ask before buying a clip rack

No. Each clip is a 2.3 inch jaw rated at 0.8 lb, which is a branch, not a plant. Cut the plant down into individual branches first and spread them across the clips. A whole plant on one clip is past the rating and will slip at the worst moment.

The lockable hook takes a tent crossbar, a ratchet hanger or a closet rod. The number that matters is not the 2.05 lb rack, it is the 22.4 lb it can be carrying when every clip is full. Check what your tent poles are rated for before you fill it, especially on lightweight frames.

The 13.5 by 19.75 inch frame fits inside a 2x2 footprint with room to reach around it. Height is the question to answer: add your longest branch to the hook and the clearance you want off the floor, and compare that against the space under your light. Growers running short tents usually cut branches shorter rather than skip the rack.

It depends on when you trim. If you hang whole branches and trim dry, this rack is the better tool, because the bud keeps its shape all the way through. If you trim wet and dry loose buds, they have nothing to hang by and belong on the mesh tier rack instead. Plenty of growers keep both and use the mesh for the popcorn off the bottom of the plant.

No. STACK!T makes several drying products, including collapsible mesh racks and zippered flip racks in two and three foot sizes. This page is the 28 clip stainless hanging rack, SKU DR28HANG, and it is the one we stock. If you are cross shopping and want to be certain, match the SKU rather than the name.

Yes, and one of the photos above shows exactly that, a bunch of sage held in a single clip. Anything that can be bundled and gripped by a stem works: basil, oregano, mint, chilies, flowers for drying. The clip does not care what is on the other end of the stem.
