Description

Put the burp on a timer and stop opening lids twice a day

A 4 inch fan pushes 100 to 180 CFM up through the bottom of a 27 gallon tote and out through the lid corners past a one way silicone flapper valve, so the air exchange you get from a burp happens on a schedule instead of when somebody remembers. A humidity controller holds the tote at the number you set and the phone app logs it, graphs it and pings you when it drifts. One tote draws 8.5 watts, so eight of them on a rack pull less than a 75 watt bulb.

Hand burping vs a controlled tote

What changes when the lid stops being the only air exchange

Burping jars and totes by hand The EZ Cure tote
Lid off, lid on, twice a day, and the exchange only happens while somebody is standing in the room. The fan runs on a schedule or on a humidity setpoint, so 3am gets the same exchange as noon.
A hygrometer in the jar gives you a number, but only in the second you look at it. Humidity reads live in the app with a graph across the whole run and an alert when it leaves your range.
Opening a lid swaps the air sitting above the flower. The air underneath it barely moves. Air enters at the bottom, passes up through the material on the rack insert and leaves through the lid corners.
Ten containers means ten lids on ten schedules, and the tenth one always gets the least attention. Totes join groups in the app, so eight on a rack take the same single setting that one on a bench does.
Correcting a jar that went too dry means dosing it with a pack and waiting to see what happened. A damp towel in the bottom of the tote, away from the material, rehydrates with the fan doing the moving.
What a batch actually did last week is whatever somebody wrote on the lid. Humidity and power history is kept per tote, so a run that went sideways is still readable afterwards.

Before you order

Six things that decide whether this fits your post harvest bench

100 to 180 CFM

The airflow is a dial, not a fixed setting

A speed controller takes the fan from 2,000 to 3,000 RPM, so you can sit on a slow continuous exchange for a long cure or open it up for a short burst.

27 gallons

One tote is the batch unit

Each tote is its own environment with its own controller, so two strains at two different moisture levels never have to share a setting.

8.5 watts

Cheap enough to leave running

A single tote pulls 0.132 amps at 120 VAC. The full eight tote rack with its power strip draws 2.4 amps, which lands comfortably on one household circuit.

Air goes one way and stays that way

A one way silicone flapper valve sets the direction, bottom in and lid corners out, so the tote is not breathing room air back in between cycles.

Phone control with real permissions

Totes can be grouped into rooms and shared with a crew at different control levels, so a team member can read a graph without being able to change a setpoint.

Plant contact surfaces are named

Polypropylene, silicone and stainless steel are the only three materials your material touches, and the fan, speed controller and humidity controller use UL certified components.

How it works

Four steps from a loaded tote to a logged cure

1

Load on the rack insert, not on the floor of the tote

The insert holds the material up off the bottom so incoming air passes through it rather than around it. Seat the fan, plug in the cord and drop the hygrometer in.

2

Add the tote in the app and label it

Create the account, make a home, add each tote as a device, then name them and sort them into rooms or groups that match how your bench is actually laid out.

3

Pick humidity control or a burp schedule

Humidification work mode holds a target and a range on its own. A scene instead gives you fixed burps: a start time, a frequency and an on or off action across whichever totes you choose.

4

Run slow to cure, fast to correct

Low continuous airflow is the setting for a long cure and for scheduled burping. Push the speed up for short bursts when a tote reads wetter than you want it.

What you get

In the box, and what growers run alongside it

What ships
  • Single Tote: the EZ Cure tote, a 4 inch square fan, a speed controller and a humidity controller
  • 8 Pack: eight totes, eight fans, eight speed controllers, eight humidity controllers, an eight outlet power strip and a prewired 4 tier rolling shelf
  • The 8 pack arrives preassembled and rolls through a standard doorway
  • Fan, speed controller and humidity controller are built on UL certified components
  • No phone, no router and no humidity packs. You supply a 2.4 GHz wireless signal and an internet connection
  • Stacking basket trays and spare dry rack inserts are EZ Trim accessories, not part of either configuration
  • Ships direct from EZ Trim, typically landing in 1 to 2 weeks
What growers add to it
Item From What it covers
STACK!T Hanging Dry Rack w/28 Clips $26.95 The hang dry that happens before anything goes in a tote
SensorPush Humidity and Temperature Sensor $54.95 A second opinion on the room the totes are sitting in
CVault Bud Storage, Large $33.48 Where a finished tote gets split down into stored portions
Grove Bags with TerpLoc, Windowed Pouches From $0.40 Long term storage once the cure is where you want it
Boveda 62% Humidity Packs, 320 Grams $24.95 Holding a number inside sealed containers with no power
Buying tip: the 8 pack works out to $374.88 a tote against $319.00 for a single, so you are paying about $56 more per tote for the prewired rolling shelf and the power strip. Buying eight singles instead saves $447 and costs you the rack, the wiring and the floor plan that comes with it.
FAQ

Questions growers ask before buying a controlled cure system

EZ Trim builds it for drying, equalizing moisture and curing, and the higher fan speeds are what make the drying end of that work. In practice most growers still hang dry first on something like a STACK!T rack and move into totes once the stems are close, because a 27 gallon tote packed with wet material is a lot of water for one 4 inch fan to pull out. Use it as the back half of a dry and the whole of a cure and it is doing what it is best at.

Setup needs an internet connection and a 2.4 GHz wireless signal, which matters if your router only broadcasts 5 GHz by default. If the connection drops you lose the app, the graphs and the schedule, but not the hardware: a transmitter button forces the fan on or off directly, bypassing the app entirely. Scheduling and remote monitoring are the parts that depend on the network.

EZ Trim publishes the tote at 27 gallons and does not publish a weight capacity, so we are not going to invent one. What we can tell you is that volume is rarely the limit. Packing a tote tight defeats the point, because the air has to move up through the material rather than around a solid block of it. Load for airflow and the gallons will not be what stops you. If you want to talk through batch sizes before you order, call 716-217-0353.

It is the elevated platform that keeps material off the floor of the tote so incoming air passes through it. EZ Trim sells it as a separate part at $39.99, along with stacking basket trays at $12.99 each, and says a tote will take up to six of those baskets. If you are loading loose rather than in baskets you want one insert in each tote you plan to run, so count them against the number of totes you buy.

This one does not leave our Buffalo warehouse. It ships direct from EZ Trim and usually lands in 1 to 2 weeks, which is longer than the 3 to 5 business days most of our catalog runs. A single tote crates at 30 x 24 x 18 inches and 12 lb. The 8 pack is freight at 170 lb and 42 x 96 x 48 inches, so somebody needs to be there to take it off a truck. Call 716-217-0353 before you order the 8 pack if your delivery address has no dock.

Assembled it is 48 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 71 inches tall, so a standard 80 inch door frame clears it and EZ Trim builds it to roll through preassembled. The number to check is depth, not height: 28 inches is deeper than most wire shelving, and you want the lids to open and the fans to be reachable from the front. Measure the aisle you plan to roll it down as well as the spot it is going to live in.
